
Wireshark can be used to capture and analyze network traffic. One way is to use the built-in sniffing tool, Wireshark. Kali Linux can be used to sniff passwords in a number of ways. Kali Linux is pre-installed with over 300 penetration-testing programs, including Armitage (a graphical cyber attack management tool), nmap (a port scanner), Wireshark (a packet analyzer), John the Ripper (a password cracker), Aircrack-ng (a software suite for penetration-testing wireless LANs), Burp suite (an integrated platform for performing security testing of web applications), and many others.

It is maintained and funded by Offensive Security Ltd. Kali Linux is a Debian-derived Linux distribution designed for digital forensics and penetration testing.
